Austin McKinley is an award-winning freelance cartoonist, author, visual artist, and filmmaker who's worked in newspapers, magazines, television, graphic novels, film production and video game development.
His newest creator-owned graphic novel “RIOT Force: Tools of the Rich" storms into bookstores February, 2025 from publisher Source Point Press.
He recently illustrated the full-length graphic novel, "Tales of Mr. Rhee Vol. 5: Rockstar Paranoia" written by Dirk Manning and the one-shot comic "Blaze Ya Dead Homie" written by Rob Humphrey and published by Source Point Press.
He produced, shot and appeared in the award-winning feature documentary “The New 8-Bit Heroes” alongside director Joe Granato, and created "By The Numbers," a feature-length abstract animation representing cinematic structure.
He was the 2011 grand prize winner of the national TVMe television treatment contest, and the Florida Film Network’s 2012 Operation: Logline contest, which facilitated the production of his third short film, “Quicklime.” His short film “Life in a Glass House” took home an honorable mention from the 2013 Boston Science Fiction Film Festival.
He is the author of several works and collections through his company, Flying Car. His comic illustrations have also been published by Image Shadowline, Devil's Due / 1st Comics, Alias / Blue Water Press, Avatar, Boom!, Blue King Studios, FC9, and Source Point Press.
He wrote and illustrated "Squareasota," a weekly cartoon in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune for seven years.
He lives and works in Sarasota, Florida.
